Tips On Decorating Your Baby’s Room Yourself
With a little creativity and effort, you can come up with a sweet baby room. And that’s even without the help of an interior designer or having to spend a huge sum of money. So get the DIY freak in you started and take note of the following pointers.
The walls of your baby’s room can be painted with 2 to 3 different colors. It will not necessarily look busy or daring, as long as you pick colors that are in harmony. Go for bright ones rather than boring white or earth tones. Remember that it’s a room for your little one. You can go online to find out what’s the latest color trends, or simply open up an interior decorating publication.
The ceiling should also be colorful and interesting. Remember that each time your baby stays in the room, he or she will spend most of it staring upwards. Install up to date chandeliers in bold colors, ones that look like mobiles. If you can’t execute a mural on the ceiling, go for appliques instead. They’re available at home decor accents shops, and may also be used to embellish walls.
The baby’s room need not have things that completely match each other. You can use a variety of colors, textures and other elements that complement each other. For instance, the bedding collection does not necessarily have to match the wall’s color scheme. It’s all right to go for ones with popular cartoon characters in them, but you are not limited to those.
When choosing the furnishings to include, always put safety in mind. Go for those that have a wide base for stability. Also, steer clear of anything with glass parts or materials, as well as anything with sharp edges. You might want to go for furnishings that can be put to good use as your baby grows.
It’s best to invest in items that will last for many years. You should go for good quality crib, bed, cabinets, shelves and the likes. If you have not much free time to drop by stores, you can always look for items online. The internet is a great place to shop around for baby items, from toys, designer baby bedding, to other accessories.
If you’re on a tight budget, you can always shop at garage sales or thrift stores. But see to it that the items you will purchase meet certain standards for safety. Some items may be in great shape, but may have been outmoded years ago because of health hazards. Always remember that the safety of your baby comes first.
